Blog EntryMy Thoughts ...Apr 15, 2012
On the day that Jeremy's truck got hit up in the mountains, I got a new camera. Well, new to me. It's a used 5D mk ii. My first real "pro" camera body. Surprisingly (to me) it has given me a fairly high learning curve. The best part about it is that... more

ThumbnailWe just bought an ice cream maker a week or so ago and we are LOVING it! We opted for a Cuisinart, and it is easy as can be.

I was amazed by how good this is, but the banana is pretty overwhelming. I think it lends itself to the texture of the final product, but if you don't like banana, you'll want to find some other kind of thickening agent. I understand you can use a couple tablespoons of cornstarch in place of them, or even some pudding mix. I got the recipe from this web site, and it has more almond milk ice cream recipes, along with instructions for using the cornstarch, and instructions for making this in your freezer without an ice cream maker: http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2011/04/28/vegan-almond-milk-ice-cream-3-recipes/

The way I figured it, estimating 100 calories per banana, each serving of this ice cream (more like a sorbet, actually) is about 80 calories. Not bad at all!
